Incredibly crunchy on the outside with an amazingly soft center. These delicious Greek bread rings covered with toasted sesame seeds are definitely the most popular street food one can find in Greece. Introduced under the name “Koulouri Thessalonikis” because it was originally made in Thessaloniki by Greek refugee bakers. Made from wheat flour, yeast, water, salt and sugar. But the very secret of the flavor, is the high quality of sesame.

Walking the streets of Athens or Thessaloniki you can’t miss the street vendors selling these popular sesame breadkidkoulouri rings! Its story starts from Byzantium, the word Koulouri comes from the Byzantine kollikion and occurred mainly in Istanbul and Thessaloniki.
